EMR Backend Infrastructure & Secure API Deployment on AWS
This project involved designing, deploying, and securing a production-ready backend system for an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) platform. The goal was to deliver a scalable, secure, and fully functional API that integrates seamlessly with a modern frontend application. Scope of Work: I was responsible for transforming a provided NestJS backend codebase into a fully operational cloud-based system, ensuring reliability, security, and readiness for real-world usage. Key Responsibilities: → Deployment of a full NestJS backend application with authentication and database integration → Setup of AWS infrastructure using ECS (Fargate), RDS (PostgreSQL), ALB, VPC, and NAT Gateways → Configuration of HTTPS with custom domain and SSL certificate (ACM) → Secure handling of sensitive data using AWS Secrets Manager → Implementation of IAM least-privilege policies → Setup of CloudWatch monitoring, alarms, and dashboards → Creation of operational documentation and runbooks Features Delivered: → Fully functional REST API with authentication (JWT) → Role-based access and protected endpoints → Database-backed modules (users, care plans, medications, notes, audit logs) → HTTPS-secured API with custom domain → Production-ready infrastructure with monitoring and alerts Security & Compliance Considerations: → Secrets managed securely via AWS Secrets Manager → HTTPS enforced with automatic HTTP redirect → Private RDS instance within VPC → IAM roles scoped to least privilege → HIPAA-aware architecture considerations documented Outcome: The backend system was successfully deployed and tested, allowing seamless integration with the frontend application. The client confirmed full functionality and readiness for production use.

A fully custom-coded event platform for a Portland, Oregon community festival brand. Built from scratch with PHP 8.1+, MySQL, and vanilla JS — no WordPress, no page builders. Features include an AJAX-powered events listing with live filtering by category, month, and price range, a reservation system with CSRF protection and email confirmations via PHPMailer, a full admin panel with dashboard stats and CSV export, and a secure above-webroot architecture with PDO prepared statements throughout.
